Balutia was an ancient Arab province, which encompassed territories of Córdoba, Ciudad Real, and Badajoz.

The first rider to complete the route was Sergio Molinero, with a time of 1 day, 19 hours and 49 minutes. The first pair to complete the route was Alex Grau and Silvia Molinero, who finished in 4 days, 9 hours and 41 minutes. The last rider to complete the route within the official time limit was Thomas Duhnke, finishing in 5 days, 12 hours and 38 minutes, just 22 minutes before the finish line closed.

Balutia is an ultracycling gravel event (870 km), in self-sufficiency, tracing the original border of Balutia, an ancient Arab province that included territories from Córdoba, Ciudad Real, and Badajoz.

Ultracycling gravel event

From the lush meadows of Los Pedroches to the remote and solitary Valley of Alcudia, then crossing La Siberia Extremeña, and the incredible reservoirs of La Serena and Orellana. The Valley of Guadiato, the villages of Fuente Obejuna, and the Natural Park of Hornachuelos, before ascending the Alto Guadalquivir and the Natural Park of Cardeña and Montoro.

From Mountain Olive Groves to Row-Planted Fields

From the rugged hills of Sierra Morena to the ordered lines of Andalusia’s olive groves, this section of Balutia traces a quiet transition in the landscape. Wild mountain terrain धीरे gives way to cultivated fields, where centuries-old trees cling to steep slopes before opening into vast, geometric plantations.

Between winding descents and rural roads, riders move through a living contrast: tradition and efficiency, adaptation and control. A journey not only across terrain, but across ways of understanding the land.
